A Great Night it was!!

yo people,

First of all, I will like to thank all SAC members for making Social Gathering 2008 possible!! I'm sure each and every member were pretty exhausted at the end of the day as we needed to stay back till late at night for practices after practices before the big event!! Personally, I felt it was worth it in the end. :D

Now to Social Gathering 2008...

Social Gathering 2008 started with lecturers and students entering the MPH at bout 6.30 onwards with the occasional few arriving way earlier than they were allowed to. ( lol..u 2 know who you are :P) As it got later to the night, we were shocked by the amount of people lining up (reminds me of a packet of sardine :D) waiting for their time to enter. We simply did not expect such a great turnout from you guys and were really pleased by these huge support!!

The night started off with our lovely president giving us her speech!! Soon afterwards our fellow lecturers were introduced to the crowd drawing huge applause and cheers!! Miss Von Sia looking ever so lovely!! Mr Goh as usual being a great hit among the girls :D!! Ms Santha looking pleasant and sweet!! Mr John for being our very own ACCA ROCK STAR!! and Ms Menon for being the Menon we all know and love with her cute and lively personality :D (sorry if I miss out any of the lecturers as I might have forgotten or don't really know some of the lecturers name..)

Our sketch soon begin after we were installed as SAC members for 2008!! For those that didn't make it to the event, our sketch's story was about L.A.M.B which stands for Love ,ACCA, Music and Bubbly Holidays!! Judging by the response from the crowd, I guess the sketch was well taken by most of them!! I do hope that our sketch was not offensive in anyway especially to any of the lecturers that we have impersonated or to anyone in particular that found our sketch hurtful!! If we did, SAC is deeply sorry for our actions!!(well the girl guy dress-up thing might have caused a few problems..if it did..the actor and actress and not to be blamed lol :D)

Our sketch was followed by a wonderful performance by a group of CAT students (at least I thought they were..) presenting their acoustic (once again..I'm full of doubt..at least I thought it was..) version of the song "Teardrops on My Guitar" by Taylor Swift.

By the time their performance was over, it was already 9pm++ and most people were getting really hungry!! And we all know that a hungry ACCA student makes a angry ACCA student :D Thus attendants were allowed to feast on the dinner provided!! As mentioned above, we were simply not aware that so many people would have turn up for our event and were short of stations for foods and obviously food as well!! Once again, we are deeply sorry if you were unable to enjoy a proper meal!! Hopefully this will not happen again in the future!!

Some time were given to those that attended for them to mingle around and to enjoy their foods. It was nice to see those who attended mixing with each other!! After all the purpose of the social gathering was to get to know your juniors or seniors or lecturers more!! A short clip on our past activities as well as a promotion to our up and coming ACCA/CAT Camp 2008 was also shown!! This was followed by lucky draws and the remaining performances!!

After all the performances and lucky draws were over, I guess to some, that was when the night really started as the dance floor was open!! The MPH isn't really a place where hardcore clubbers (this does not mean that I am one :D) would consider a dance floor (no disco ball, too bright and dark at times i suppose) but the people that stayed behind definitely showed their skills!! :D Especially Mr Simon!! :D

Overall, it can be concluded that the Social Gathering was a huge success as we have managed to achieve our goal of having the students interact with each other and getting to know the lecturers more!! Students were also allowed to shine with their own performances and dancing skills to prove that ACCA students are simply not square. (Chuck and Larry :D)

Lastly, SAC would like to thank all those that have attended especially to all the lecturers!! A big thank you also to the lecturers who have contributed gift for us to use as lucky draws!! Thank you all once again for making it happen and we hope you have enjoy the night as much as much as we have enjoyed hosting it for you!!

Take care and cheers!!

PS : Sorry if I gotten any of the information wrong (especially if I miss out on any of the lecturers names) as I was practically stuck with the PA system for most of the event!! Also a huge kudos to our MC for the night as they done a magnificent job!! A pictorial report will be out as soon as I can get hold of some pictures!!
